Often is the case that you just don't want to drive your classic car in the rain. Sure, it gets the car all messy, but the real problem is that you don't want to get caught in the water when you can't rely on that original windshield wiper system. In this segment of Hemming's Garage, Sam and Dennis look at replacement wiper systems for your classic.

This segment begins as Sam and Dennis are doing a quick look-see at Dennis's 1956 Lincoln Premier. And, as the conversation begins, we discover that Dennis has the same problem with his Lincoln that many of us face with our own classics: that old vacuum powered wiper motor assembly just doesn't cut it anymore. Not too many years ago it would have taken endless searches at swap meets and flea markets in order to find that original part in working order, but then again, it would probably be just a matter of time before the replacement part gave way as well. Now, with help from the folks at Concours Parts & Accessories, you can find replacement wiper motor assemblies that are both easy to install and that will upgrade the quality of your windshield wiper system.

The Clean Wipe Wiper Drive is a true bolt-in replacement for your original equipment vacuum or electric windshield wiper motor. The wiper drives attach to the stock mounting brackets and each kit comes with nylon bushings to replace the rubber grommets in the wiper transmission linkage arms (when required), and there is no need to worry about a proper fit for these parts clear the stock cowl vent and air conditioning.

All components are made in the U.S.A. and come with a one-year guarantee. Also, there are optional features available such as an intermittent delay switch, washer pump kit, and switch shaft extensions that adapt the original wiper knob and bezel if you want to keep your car looking bone stock.

The cost for each unit should average around $200.00 including shipping. If you want to know more, give them a call at 1-800-722-0009, or look them up on the web at www.concoursparts.com.
